VIOLIN / VIOLA LESSONS
I have a passion for music and I am incredibly blessed to make a living sharing that passion with others. As a student of the violin for over 25 years and a full-time private instructor for nearly 10 years, my life and career have been largely devoted to playing and teaching music. I take my role as teacher very seriously and I look for students that are serious in their learning, regardless of their musical goals. I strive for my lessons to be both fun and challenging. The process of learning to play an instrument has numerous benefits and I highly encourage anyone with a love for music to pursue one, regardless of age or ability.
I offer private and group lessons. My studio is located at Castle Rock Music, 429 Wilcox St, in downtown Castle Rock. If you're interested in violin or viola lessons (any age and level) please contact me to setup a free, in-person meeting to discuss lessons, expectations, goals, etc. After this initial meeting, if you feel we'd be a good fit, we can schedule lessons. I will prepare a lesson schedule for you, and upon your review and approval, we'll begin lessons! You will also have access to my Students page on this site, which has instructional videos, articles, sheet music, among other resources.
I am an experienced and dedicated musician and teacher of many ages and abilities. I began learning the violin from the Suzuki Method at age four. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance. While pursuing a Master of Music degree at Colorado State University, I held the position of First Violinist with the Graduate String Quartet and Concertmaster of the Colorado State University Orchestra. I studied privately with Dr. Ron Francois (Colorado State University), and Jeri Jorgensen (co-founder and former first violinist of the Da Vinci Quartet). My education also includes four months in Milan, Italy, where I studied at the Accademia Internazionale Della Musica with violinist Carlo Feige. While in Fort Collins, I also had the opportunity to serve as judge for Colorado All-State Orchestra.
After finishing my studies, I turned my attention toward teaching in Castle Rock, where I live with my wife and son. I have maintained a full-time private studio in Castle Rock for close to a decade. In addition to lessons, I am the founder and director of the Castle Rock Youth Symphony and the Korean Christian Church Youth Orchestra.
